COLUMBIA, S.C. — Traffic on Garners Ferry Road in Columbia has resumed as normal after powerlines that were blocked the street were moved out of the roadway.

The affected area was in the 5000 block of Garners Ferry just past Rosewood Drive and before the Shoppes at Woodhill shopping center where the Target store is.

Images from the scene showed powerlines fell in the eastbound lanes of Garners Ferry. Columbia Police said a tree fell on the power pole causing the damage.

Because of the problem, Columbia Police blocked all lanes westbound and eastbound at that location for about 30 minutes. However, traffic has now resumed.

Dominion Energy came to the scene and repaired the problem.
