(Richland County)- Roeshell Conerson said her daughter had plans for the future, but they were cut short Sunday when she was shot and killed."All I feel now is hurt and empty," explained Conerson. "At a time like this, there's really not much to say."However, Conerson spoke to News19 about the tragic death of daughter, Doniesha Smallwood. Authorities said the 18-year-old was driving down Crane Church Road around 1 a.m. Sunday morning when gunfire erupted around her car."They heard a shot, and she kept driving,” said Conerson, recounting the story she was told by passengers in her daughter's car. "Then, they heard some more shots. They all sort of ducked down. When they got back up, she didn't come up and they couldn't control the car. They went off the side of the road."Authorities say Smallwood suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head. Conerson told News19 her daughter had went to a party with friends earlier that night. "She said she'd see me later, and that was the last time I saw her," recalled Conerson. Investigators believe Smallwood had just left the party when her car was caught in the crossfire. They say her three passengers were unharmed. "It's hard for me to see the kids come over, and she's not with them," said Conerson. "I knew she had a lot of friends, but until yesterday I never knew how many." Conerson said her daughter graduated from Ridgeview High School in May and planned to study nursing at Midlands Tech in the fall. "I was looking through her folder last night, and she already had a schedule and everything."Authorities have not identified any suspects in the shooting, but they believe there were multiple gunmen firing from different locations along Crane Church Road. They say another vehicle was shot into, prior to Smallwood's, but no one was injured. If you have any information that could help solve this case, please call Crimestoppers at 1-888-559-TIPS.
