Tampa, Florida (WTSP) -- Authorities are at the scene of a forklift accident in Tampa at the Infra-Metals Co. early Thursday morning.
Sources at the scene say 51-year-old Ricardo McCalop was killed in the accident.
McCalop was moving a beam with the forklift when the beam stuck a pile of beams, causing the beam on the forklift to shift. This shift pushed the forklift over and crushed McCalop. A tow truck had to be used to lift the steel beam that fell on top on the forklift and crushed McCalop.
10 News spoke with McCalop's wife of 25 years at the scene who says her and Ricardo have two children together and 17 grandchildren with one on the way. McCalop also two other children and helped raise Rosie's four other children.
The company's website says it is the largest steel distributor in the U.S.
