Change of Command at Fort Jackson

The 193rd Infantry Brigade held a Change of Command ceremony at the Fort Jackson Officers’ Club Tuesday morning.

Fort Jackson, SC (WLTX) - The 193rd Infantry Brigade held a Change of Command ceremony at the Fort Jackson Officers’ Club Tuesday morning.

Colonel Milford Beagle relinquished command to Colonel Michael Katona in a ceremony steeped in Army traditions.

The 193rd is a basic combat training (BCT) Brigade, and more than 50,000 new soldiers were trained at Fort Jackson during Col. Beagle’s command. As members of the Brigade looked on, Col. Beagle surrendered the Brigade flag to Brigadier General Roger Cloutier, who in turn gave the unit flag to the incoming Colonel, signifying an unbroken chain of command. The surrender of the Brigade flag traces back centuries.

Soldiers sang the Army Song as the colors were retired.

Col. Beagle’s next posting will be at the Pentagon.
