Veterans will get lots of thank you's, bless you's and handshakes around Veterans Day. They'll also get a nod from restaurants and businesses throughout the country through a free meal or a discount.
WARNING: PLEASE CALL AHEAD: Some stores have the option to not participate on a case-by-case basis, so be sure your favorite location is participating.
Here's a list of deals available this week from restaurants and stores at participating locations. You must show your military ID or proof of service to get any of the offers.
SATURDAY, NOV. 11
Outback Steakhouse
Veterans and active military can get a free Bloomin' Onion and a beverage. From Nov. 12 through Nov. 16, military members will receive 20 percent off their check. Also beginning November 17, Military, Fire and Police will receive 10 percent off their check.
Texas Roadhouse
Veterans get a free lunch from a special veterans menu below. Also includes choice of iced tea, sweet tea, soft drink or coffee. Must be dine-in.

Veterans will get $5 off their check inside or a free burger or bratwurst. Veterans’ family members will be offered a discounted rate of $5 for a classic burger or bratwurst from the outside grill.

Veterans, active military and their family members (spouses and dependent children) can save 10 percent on a Target purchase through Nov. 11. Great Clips
Veterans get either a free haircut that day or the free haircut card to use at a later date.
Lowe's Home Improvement
Veterans and active duty service members get a 10 percent discount when they sign up for a MyLowes card.
Sheetz
Veterans and active duty military can get a six-inch turkey sub and a regular size fountain drink for free. Stores that offer carwashes will also provide a free carwash.
Home Depot
10 percent discount is year-round when Veterans and active duty members show their military ID.
Walgreens
Offer 10 percent discount for Veterans on Veterans Day.
US National Park Service
Free admission for everyone on Veterans Day Weekend.
Burlington Animal Services
Any veteran can adopt a pet with no adoption fee anytime.
