Police arrest woman for allegedly stealing 65 Stanley cups

Police advised members of the public "against turning to crime to fulfill your hydration habits."

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — A woman was arrested in northern California last week on suspicion of stealing enough Stanley stainless steel drinking cups to fill a shopping cart.

The City of Roseville Police Department, located north of Sacramento, said on Facebook its officers were called to a store when staff allegedly saw a woman "take a shopping cart full of Stanley water bottles without paying for them."

Police said the suspect refused to stop for staff and stuffed her car with the stolen cups.

"An officer spotted the suspect vehicle as it entered Highway 65 from Galleria Blvd and initiated a traffic stop," police said on Facebook. Police said the 23-year-old suspect was arrested and accused of grand theft.

Pictures released by police show dozens of Stanley cups on the car's trunk and passenger seat.

"A subsequent search of her vehicle resulted in the recovery of 65 Stanley products valued at nearly $2,500," said the Roseville Police Department.

"While Stanley Quenchers are all the rage, we strongly advise against turning to crime to fulfill your hydration habits," police said.
