Opening night ends with a win for the Columbia Fireflies

The Columbia Fireflies first home game of 2024 ends with some drama in the late innings and a 6-5 victory over Myrtle Beach

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Opening Night at Segra Park featured a two-run home run by Erick Pena in the second and then a late rally by Fireflies in a 6-5 win over Myrtle Beach Tuesday evening at Segra Park.

The Fireflies scored two runs in the eighth and trailed 5-4 going into the ninth. The team drew four walks to set up a walk-off wild pitch to score Erick Torres with the game-winner.

Nicholas Regalado (W, 1-0) closed out the game with a scoreless ninth and two punchouts to keep Columbia within striking distance. 

Columbia continues their series with the Pelicans tomorrow night at 7:05 pm. RHP Blake Wolters gets the start for the Fireflies with Myrtle Beach going with RHP Mason McGwire.
