The Columbia Fireflies explode for 18 runs on NASCAR Night at Segra Park

On a night where horsepower was celebrated, it was firepower at the plate that delivered a win for the Columbia Fireflies over Myrtle Beach.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Austin Charles delivered a three-run homer in the bottom of the first for the Columbia Fireflies who put on an offensive show in a 18-9 win over Myrtle Beach on NASCAR Night at Segra Park.

With the Darlington Raceway pace car parked at the front of the park and NASCAR-themed contests during the game, the Fireflies would score 15 runs off the Myrtle Beach bullpen.

Charles finished the night 3-4 with four RBI.

The Fireflies bats drew 10 walks and had 15 hits as they scored their most runs since an 18-2 victory over the Myrtle Beach Pelicans July 9, 2022.

The two teams will continue their series Friday night at 7:05 p.m. at Segra Park.
