Masters merchandise is big business in Augusta

Many patrons who arrive at the Augusta National Golf Club will at some point make their way to the gift shop.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — The gift shop at the Augusta National Golf Club has evolved over the years, increasing in size to better serve the patrons who make their way to Washington Road every April.

Gift buying is part of the Masters tradition as those lucky enough to receive badges to the tournamet will sometimes have a wish list provided by family and friends who want a souveneir from the Masters, even if they are not personally on the grounds.

Hats are traditionally the most popular item at the patron shop although plenty of shirts are purchased as well.

Two years ago, Forbes magazine estimated merchandise sales generates nearly $70 million for the Augusta National Golf Club.
