What is Usher's real name?

The answer may not come as a surprise.

ATLANTA — With Usher set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, you may be longing to know more about the "Superstar" singer, including his real name. Fans might be surprised to find out that the megastar's stage name isn't so far off from his birth name.

Usher's full name is Usher Terry Raymond IV, from which he derived his stage name.

Although he opted to drop his last name professionally, he hasn't shied away from staying true to his roots. The talented triple-threat made reference to his birth name in his 1997 song, "Nice & Slow," by simply spelling it out: "They call me U-S-H-E-R-R-A-Y-M-O-N-D."  He also highlighted his surname in his 2010 sixth studio album titled "Raymond v. Raymond."

He is the fourth in his family to carry that name, and the singer carried on that legacy with his son, Usher "Cinco" Raymond V, in 2007.
