NEWBERRY, S.C. — An accident involving a logging truck led to a natural gas line leak, temporarily closing SC 121 at Belfast Road/O'Neal Street Wednesday morning.
Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster posted on social media that the accident caused a puncture in the gas line and, in an abundance of caution, nearby Newberry Middle School was placed on alert and told to shelter in place.
Crews with Clinton Newberry Natural Gas Authority were able to repair the leak around 11:20 a.m. and the scene was cleared at that time. Newberry Middle School returned to normal operations.
