AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead following a Saturday afternoon crash in Aiken County.
Authorities said the crash happened around 4 p.m. in the 1100 block of Chinquapin Church Road near Monetta. Coroner Darryl Ables said the crash occurred when a 2005 Pontiac sedan ran off the right side of the road along a curve, over-corrected and went off the left side of the road, striking a tree. Ables said the unrestrained driver, identified as 33-year-old Kevon Parker of Johnston, died at the scene of blunt force injuries.
Ables said his office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the crash. The results of a toxicology test are pending, he said.
