Two pickup trucks collide in Lexington County, one dead and three hurt

The crash happened around 2 p.m. on U.S. 178 (Fairview Road) at D.E. Clark Road.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Officials say one person died and three were hurt on Saturday in a crash outside of Pelion in Lexington County.

According to Lance Corporal Lena Butler with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2 p.m. on U.S. 178 (Fairview Road) at D.E. Clark Road, about two miles outside Pelion. Butler said two pickup trucks, a westbound 2003 Ford F-150 and a southbound 1997 Ford F-150, collided at the intersection.

Officials said there were two people in the 2003 Ford, both of whom were injured. Butler said the passenger died at the scene, and the driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment. She added that the driver and passenger of the 1997 Ford were also hospitalized after the crash.

The Lexington County Coroner's Office hasn't yet identified the victim killed in the crash. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident.
