Sunny, seasonable South Carolina weather

COLUMBIA, S.C. — High pressure will dominate our weather through the first half of the weekend. Some rain is possible late Sunday, after sunset. Mainly sunny skies are forecast for Monday. Temperatures over the weekend and next week will be close to normal for January.

It started cold this morning. Temperatures dropped into the middle to upper 30s early Friday. This was colder than it has been over the past several days. Our average low temperature this time of the year is 35 degrees.

Skies will be sunny today. It will be seasonably cool this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Our average high temperature for January 6 is 57.

A weak front will move toward the area Sunday. Clouds will increase during the day. Highs will be in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. There is a chance for rain after sunset. Any rain will move out of the area quickly.

Temperatures will be near normal for the workweek. Monday will be mostly sunny. Tuesday will be partly cloudy. Moisture will increase towards the end of the workweek. There is some uncertainty as far as the rain chances go.

Temperatures in the 8-14 day outlook are forecast to be a little above normal across the state.
