SAN ANTONIO — Touch our hearts! That is 14-year-old Miss Maddie! She is ever hopeful to find her "Forever Adoptive Home." She was shy at the start of our interview, but what foster kid wouldn't be? She quickly, though, warmed to the process and was as sweet as little girl we've ever met.

"I like animals," she told us. "And I'm good with kids, too!" But I said wait, you're still a kid! "I know, I mean like little ones," she said, smiling.

Maddie is doing great in school, math especially. She likes to do all those teenage girl things that every young lady likes to do, and more! Her love of animals goes beyond the love: She actually uses some of her free time to volunteer at the local shelter. She also told us she loves to cook and clean! It can be therapeutic for her as she deals with her emotions.

More than anything, she would love to find her adoptive mom and dad. "A lot of the days it is hard being in the placement," she said. "Especially when you go to school with other kids that have parents. You see that and you wish that was you."

Maddie told us that her sister has parents, and as happy as she is for her sister, she also wishes that could have the same thing. I'd say that's more than fair.

"I think having a connection with parents again would be great for me to branch out and explore myself more, having that structured home," she said. "I feel like it would make me happier," she continued. "I feel like sometimes there is no one there for me, but I do have my family, and I do love my siblings a lot." Maddie told us having that extra support would make her so much better.

Miss Maddie dreams of being able to decorate her own room, cook for her family and even go to a public school. "It is all like pretty crazy to me," she said.
