2222 Main Street, the former Jim Moore Cadillac site, to be redeveloped

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Development of the former Jim Moore Cadillac site at 2222 Main St. in Columbia is moving forward after the project went before the city's Planning Commission for final approval of the site plan.

The Planning Commission approved the 250-unit mixed-use project on Sept. 13, 2021, but the applicant did not submit permit applications before the site plan approval expired. The commission approved the site plan through the consent agenda during the Jan. 11 meeting.

The project sits on 5.3 acres, bounded by Main, Franklin, Sumter and Scott streets and Cottonwood Way. It will contain 134 one-bedroom units, 108 two-bedroom units, four three-bedroom units, four live-work units, amenities (leasing, fitness, and co-working space), a 360-space parking garage, and a 47-space surface parking lot. When approved in September, rents were expected to range between $1,600 and $3,000.
