Orangeburg County, SC (WLTX) - Orangeburg County deputies arrested a man they say briefly held a woman hostage.
Officers say Derrick Furtick, 29, has been charged with first-degree burglar and kidnapping.
Back on August 19, deputies say they got reports that Furtick was dragging a woman across a yard by her hair. The woman yelled to witnesses that she was being kidnapped. Deputies say a 10-year-old boy attempted to free the woman, but wasn't able to.
Deputies say when they arrived, the man shielded himself by pulling the woman closer to him; however, he eventually stumbled, allowing deputies to move in and capture him.
They were then able to secure both the woman and the 10-year-old.
