A third arrest has been made in the death of a missing woman. The latest suspect is accused of helping dispose of her body and evidence

Authorities are still investigating the crime. A body has not yet been found.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina deputies have made a third arrest in connection to the suspected murder of a woman who went missing in South Carolina.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office announced on Thursday that it had arrested 46-year-old Clyde James Hendley II of Bath on a charge of accessory after the fact of murder. The charge stems from the investigation of Jamilla "Millie" Shanae' Smith's disappearance and what followed.

Smith's mother reported her missing on Dec. 3, 2023. During an investigation, the sheriff's office arrested 34-year-old Daniel Gabriel Harmon - initially for second-degree domestic violence. Authorities said 911 calls from Dec. 2 and evidence found in the trunk of the car Harmon was driving led to charges of kidnapping and murder on Dec. 23.

Authorities said 35-year-old Bryan Alexander Hampton Jr. turned himself in on  April 19, 2024, and was charged with accessory after the fact of murder.

Friday's arrest of Hendley came after investigators searched his home on Front Street in Aiken County. A warrant provided by the sheriff's office said he was accused of helping dispose of Smith's body and evidence connected to the crime.

The sheriff's office confirmed on Thursday that Smith's body has not been recovered.
