RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating separate stabbings that occurred at the county detention center.
According to a preliminary statement from the Richland County Sheriff's Department, which was notified of two separate incidents on Thursday morning, there were three stabbing victims in all. One of the incidents, authorities said, happened just before midnight and the other occurred just before 2 a.m.
The department said that two of the victims were stabbed in the G Dorm and another was stabbed in the Unit B common area. All three victims were taken to an area hospital by emergency medical services.
Authorities haven't elaborated on who the victims were or whether they were inmates.
The sheriff's department said its investigation is ongoing.
