WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Investigators have made a second arrest in connection with a shooting that happened in November 2023 and wounded two people.
An incident report filed by the West Columbia Police Department on Nov. 14 states that officers responded to the 2800 block of Augusta Road, where they found a male victim and a female victim. The report states that the male was wounded in the shoulder and leg, and the female was wounded in the buttocks.
Police spoke with the victims and a witness at the Popeyes restaurant nearby. The witness told police that an argument happened outside the rear of the restaurant involving the victims and a male subject.
The witness then reported hearing multiple gunshots and noticing the victims running toward another store, Carolina Pottery. The report said that the suspect drove behind the victims. At some point, investigators believe an employee also jumped in the car with the suspect and chased the victims while firing shots.
The shooting damaged the storefront of Carolina Pottery and left the two victims wounded.
On Thursday, the West Columbia Police Department arrested 21-year-old Rodney Odell Brown Jr. on three counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, robbery of operators of motor vehicles for hire, and criminal conspiracy.
Weeks earlier, on March 22, police arrested 19-year-old Jermaine Noel Walker on three charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, criminal conspiracy and a substance possession charge.
