Men charged with murder in shooting death of woman at Richland County club

Richland County said these arrests were the ones made "so far" and that this was an ongoing investigation.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a woman dead last weekend, and the sheriff said more arrests could be coming. 

Marcus Marshall, 33, and Cornelius Williams, 30, are both charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime from an incident that happened at the Vegas Knights club last Sunday.

In the statement announcing the news, Richland County said these arrests were the ones made "so far" and that this was an ongoing investigation. 

Deputies said they were called to the club, located at 3722 River Dr., after they got a call of a fight with a weapon happening there. When they arrived, they learned three people had been taken to the hospital. One of the victims, later identified as 24-year-old Destiny Jones of Columbia, died from her injuries. The other victims are still recovering.

The shooting was one of several in the Columbia and Richland County area over the weekend, with two of them deadly. 

According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department's shooting incident report, as of mid-March, there had been 277 total shooting incidents. Four of those shootings resulted in death, and 11 resulted in injury.
