COLUMBIA, S.C. — A fatal crash in Aiken County involved two cars and a bicycle Monday night.
A man riding a bicycle was hit by a vehicle as he tried to cross York Street around 8:35 p.m. Monday. That crash threw him into the northbound lane, where he was hit by another vehicle.
He then became trapped underneath the second vehicle.
The bicyclist, identified as 56-year-old James Hicks, was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force injuries, according to the coroner's office. Results from toxicology analysis are pending at this time.
An investigation is currently underway.
