Lexington School District Sets Record with Over $15 Million in Scholarships

The Class of 2018, which included nearly 500 seniors, brought in a total of $15,885,641 in scholarships; $7,705,525 from Airport High School and $8,180,116 from Brookland-Cayce High School.

West Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Graduating seniors from Lexington School District Two will now walk across the stage as record-breakers.

The Class of 2018, which includes nearly 500 seniors, brought in a total of $15,885,641 in scholarships; $7,705,525 from Airport High School and $8,180,116 from Brookland-Cayce High School.

Scholarships from a wide range of categories, including athletic, academic and military, resulted in a more than $5 million increase from last year and more than doubled the district's awards from 4 years ago.

“More than $15 million in scholarships, for a district our size, is a huge measure of success for our academic programs,” said Lexington Two Superintendent Dr. William James. “It’s also huge for our families. That’s $15 million that stays in their pocketbooks, that stays here in our community. We could not be more proud of these graduates and all they've accomplished."

Graduation ceremonies are set for June 4 for Brookland-Cayce and June 5 for Airport.
