Richland County Coroner identifies person found dead at quarry

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Emergency crews say one person is dead following an incident at an old quarry off Stoneridge Drive in Columbia.

A spokesperson for Columbia-Richland Fire said they were called to the area of Tropical Ridge Apartments for a rescue from a former quarry. Officials confirmed that three people were rescued and didn't need to be taken to the hospital. However, a spokesperson for the Columbia Police Department said another person died.

On Monday, April 1, Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the deceased as 21-year-old Tyler Boose, of Columbia. No other details have been released but Columbia Police, Columbia-Richland Fire and the Coroner's Office continue to investigate the incident.
