81-year-old man from Vance who left for hardware store on Friday found days later in Lexington, officials say

At least one report suggests his truck may have been spotted in Ridgeville, South Carolina, around 6:45 p.m.

VANCE, S.C. — Orangeburg County authorities say an 81-year-old man with periodic memory loss who left home on Friday afternoon has been found several miles away in Lexington County.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said Albert Smalls Jr. of Vance left around 4 p.m. Friday to get home repair supplies from a Lowe's Home Improvement store. Investigators said there were alleged sightings of his blue Ford F-150 truck in Ridgeville around 6:45 p.m. the same day.

And then, on Saturday, the sheriff's office said a financial transaction involving one of Smalls' cards was also recorded in Georgetown.

The sheriff's office announced on Sunday morning that Smalls had been found in Lexington and was taken to an area hospital for treatment as a precaution. Officials thanked the community for sharing information about his disappearance.
