Sumter County officials search for missing child; investigators believe she may have run away

Officials said Iyana Martin hadn't been seen since around 5 p.m. on Friday.

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is searching for a child they believe ran away from home on Friday afternoon.

Authorities said 12-year-old Iyana Martin was last seen around 5 p.m. that day in the area of Bradd Street, which is located in the South Sumter community. Authorities said she was last seen wearing a dark gray jacket, red Nike shoes and blue jeans. Officials said she is about 4 feet 11 inches and 70 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The sheriff's department asks anyone with information on her location to call their office at 803-436-2000 or, in an emergency, contact 911.
