Clemson preparing for the Cotton Bowl without Dexter Lawrence

The Tigers' All-American defensive tackle is one of three players suspended for a failed drug test.

There was one topic at the Cotton Bowl media day which Clemson knew was coming - the absence of defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence who remains suspended after he and two other players tested positive for ostarine.

"I hate talking about it. You hurt for a guy that's your brother," defensive end Clelin Ferrell said.

"There's still a lot to be said about that situation. You hurt for him, but as a leader and as his teammate, you've really just got to do what's best for the team and move on."

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables says the team is treating it as an injury to a starter and with that, the next man up philosophy takes over.

If Wilkins is not cleared to play, Orangeburg's Albert Huggins could get the start in Saturday's game against Notre Dame.
