NASCAR driver charged with domestic violence suspended indefinitely

Gaulding's last start was in 2023 for SS-Green Light Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Gray Gaulding, a part-time NASCAR driver, was arrested for a domestic violence charge in Cornelius.

Gaulding was arrested by the Cornelius Police Department on Tuesday, according to court records. He was released from Mecklenburg County jail with a written promise to appear at his next court date, scheduled for July 25.

The details of the incident leading to Gaulding's arrest are not available at this time. Gaulding was indefinitely suspended by NASCAR on Wednesday.

Gaulding has made 60 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series, with a best finish of ninth at Talladega in 2017. He has not competed in NASCAR's top three series in 2024. Gaudling's most recent starts came in 2023 in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for SS-Green Light Racing. He made one NASCAR Cup Series start in 2023 for Rick Ware Racing at Gateway.
