The 15th annual Forest Acres Classic cranked up Monday morning with defending SCISA 3A state champion Cardinal Newman facing Cane Bay.
The Cardinals scratched across two runs in the top of the seventh for a 3-2 victory.
In the final game of the day, the host A.C.Flora had an early 2-1 lead before falling to Voyager Academy from Durham 4-3.
The Forest Acres Classic continues Tuesday and runs through Thursday with a 3:00 p.m.championship game.
