No students injured in crash involving school bus, fire engine

Authorities said there was only one person in the bus aside from the driver at the time of the crash.

IRMO, S.C. — A roadway is clearing after a crash in northwestern Richland County involving a school bus and a fire engine on Thursday.

According to a spokesperson for Lexington-Richland School District Five, the crash involved one of their buses and a fire engine. The school district said there was only one occupant in the bus aside from the driver and no injuries between them.

Columbia-Richland Fire Department said that the crash happened around 3 p.m. on Old Tamah Road near Kingston Village Loop. The department spokesperson said that no injuries were reported on the bus but that one firefighter reported some minor pain.

At the time of the update, around 4 p.m., fire officials said the scene was beginning to clear.
