SUMTER, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is holding a public information meeting about proposed replacement of two bridges in Sumter, South Carolina.

The bridges -- Miller Road (S-55) over Shot Pouch Branch, between US-378 Business/Broad Street and US-521/N. Guinard Dr., and Hauser Street (S-114) over Turkey Creek -- are part of SCDOT's 10-year plan that includes replacement of deteriorating bridge structures on the current alignment. Traffic would be re-routed during construction.

The public is asked to attend and provide written comments at the meeting, 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at the Clyburn Intermodal Transit Center Pavilion, 129 S Harvin St., Sumter. SCDOT staff will be available to discuss the project details.

Plans are for construction to begin in Fall 2023 and take approximately one year to complete.

For more information, see the SCDOT website listing the Miller Road and Hauser Street projects.

Comments can be made at the public information meeting, on the project websites, by emailing SCDOT Project Manager Ken Martin at MartinKE@scdot.org, or by mailing comments to Ken Martin at SCDOT, P.O. Box 191, Columbia, SC 29202.
