ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be holding a drop-in public meeting in Orangeburg County to get input on a proposed roundabout to replace the four-way stop at the intersection of SC-389 (John Nunn Highway/Ninety 6 Road) and SC-394 (Salley Road).

The meeting is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, at Mount Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2160 Ninety 6 Road, Neeses. Representatives from SCDOT will be on hand to discuss the proposed project with community members.

SCDOT believes a roundabout at that location would reduce the total number and severity of vehicle-to-vehicle "conflict points." According to SCDOT, the installation of roundabouts at high-crash intersections in South Carolina reduces total crashes by 66% and injury and fatal crashes by 79% and 100%, respectively.
