Three victims killed in I-20 crash identified

The crash happened around 2:10 a.m. near mile-marker 76 - not far from the exits to I-77.

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Coroner's Office has released the names of three people killed in an early morning crash on I-20.

Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 2:10 a.m. on the interstate near mile marker 76 - not far from the I-77 exit in Richland County.

Ridgeway said a 2011 Freightliner tractor-trailer was heading west on the interstate when it hit the back of a westbound 2016 Kia Forte that stopped in the roadway. The driver and both passengers in the Kia died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn't injured.

Coroner Naida Rutherford has since identified the victims as 28-year-old Danesha Walker of Columbia, 25-year-old Shyheim White of Gadsden, and 24-year-old Zhyon Burgess of Spartanburg.

Trooper Ridgeway said the crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
