COLUMBIA, S.C. — As we head into Sunday things are looking a little bit warmer with the chance of some storms. Lows overnight tonight look to get into the middle 60s and as we go into tomorrow we warm up pretty quickly. Highs look to be in the upper 80s for most of the Midlands.
Around 2 PM we start to see the chance of some isolated storms across the region. Heavy rain and lightning can be expected with what forms.
Going into that night we are watching the weather for the lunar eclipse. As of right now, we will need to watch for that rain activity later on in the day. Depending on how things go, it is looking most likely we see partly cloudy skies with some areas getting better visibility for the eclipse than others.
Looking towards next week, some isolated storms are possible with a dying cold front on Monday. Past that, it becomes all about the heat. We are looking at a full-on summertime pattern setting up. A large ridge will be setting up over the southeast towards the middle and end of next week.
Right now highs look to be in the upper 80s to lower 90s through about Wednesday. Past that middle to upper 90s are looking likely with some of our hottest weather of the year so far towards the end of the week.
