COLUMBIA, S.C. — Our weekend started off on a record cold note. The low temperature at Columbia Metropolitan Airport of 28° ties the previous record low on this date from 1992. This is only the 13th April morning to drop below 30° on record in Columbia. The average low for this time of year is 47°.

Temperatures this afternoon will be much better with highs in the low 60s. While still below the average high of 73°, winds will be calm making it feel even nicer than the past few days. Skies will also be sunny all day.

Tonight will be clear and cold again but not as cold as this morning. Low temperatures will be in the mid to upper 30s and frost is likely Sunday morning.

The afternoon for Easter Sunday is looking beautiful with highs in the low to mid 70s under sunny skies.

Our weather will remain quiet with high pressure in control through midweek. As the high shifts to our south through Monday, our winds will also shift out of the southwest and temperatures will warm each day.

Highs will be near 80 degrees for the start of the work week and in the middle 80s through midweek. Low temperatures will also trend above normal by the middle of the week.
