COLUMBIA, S.C. — Two men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that left a man dead on April 8.

Investigators with the Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD) say Daniel Goodwin Jr and Andrew Daniels have been arrested and charged with murder for the April 8 incident.

According to RCSD, deputies responded to a call of shots fired at an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Metze Road. Arriving at the scene deputies found the 40-year-old victim with several gunshot wounds to the upper body. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the victim as Travis D. Taylor, of Columbia.

Investigators determined Taylor, Goodwin and Daniels were all at the same two nightclubs before the shooting took place. RCSD is still trying to determine a motive for the shooting.

Goodwin, who was also charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, was out on bond for a murder that occurred in September 2019 in Orangeburg County.

“When we talk about catch and release, this is a worst-case scenario,” Sheriff Lott said.

Goodwin and Daniels were booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

RCSD and the Richland County Coroner's Office continue to investigate the homicide.
