SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — A Sumter man has been charged with attempted murder after authorities say he entered someone's home, demanded money and shot the victim.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to St. Paul's Church Road around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, where they found a gunshot victim and provided aid until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived. The victim was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital for treatment.

Further investigation led deputies to arrest 49-year-old Roosevelt Mack Green on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and burglary. Authorities said Green allegedly entered the victim's home uninvited and armed with a handgun. Authorities said he demanded money from the victim, held the victim down and struck them with the gun before shooting them.

The sheriff's office said Green has since been taken to the Sumter County jail and denied bond.
