House fire in Sumter County claims life of local woman

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities have released the name of a woman who died after a fire in Sumter County on Thursday.

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said Thommie Jackson was taken to Prisma Health Tuomey following a house fire on Kolb Road. She later died. 

Baker said her family has been notified, and an autopsy is scheduled at the Medical University of South Carolina on Wednesday.

News19 has requested additional information about the fire from the Sumter Fire Department, including the cause and whether any other residents were impacted.
