South Carolina State wraps up spring practice with its Garnet and Blue game

Under the leadership of new head football coach Chennis Berry, South Carolina State is now ready to enter the off-season workout phase after 15 spring workouts.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — The first spring under new South Carolina State head football coach Chennis Berry is in the books after Saturday's Garnet and Blue Spring Game at Dawson Bulldog Stadium.

Berry came to S.C. State after a successful tenure at Benedict College where he won back-to-back SIAC championships with undefeated regular seasons in the two previous seasons.

In the 15 spring practices, Berry has overseen the implementation of his scheme and philosophy but there is still work to be done in terms of the roster. The spring transfer portal opens up on April 15 before closing on April 30. Berry expects the portal will be used to add a few more pieces to his first roster at S.C. State.
