3 killed in crash with Amtrak train identified

The crash happened early Saturday morning in North Charleston.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Charleston County coroner has released the names of three people who died after their vehicle was struck by an Amtrak train on Saturday morning.

According to Coroner Bobbi Jo O'Neal, the victims were 22-year-old Tiasia Newton of Syracuse, New York, 29-year-old Danielle Branton of North Charleston, and 32-year-old Reshana Lambright also of North Charleston.

According to officials from the North Charleston Fire Department, the deadly crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Remount Road. First responders worked quickly in an attempt to save the three victims but said that they were ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

The department said that the passenger train was carrying hundreds of passengers but there were no reported injuries aboard it.

A fourth person that first responders believe was in the wrecked vehicle did survive, however that person's injuries were not publicly revealed at the time.
