COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sunday morning started off rainy in some places across the Midlands, especially south of I-20. This rain is due to a coastal low that is sending some moisture into the state. Rainfall totals were generally around a quarter of an inch or less in areas that did have rain.

As we head into the late morning and afternoon, moisture will decrease and conditions will become mostly dry for the rest of the day. However, skies will remain mostly cloudy.

High temperatures will be a bit warmer today, topping off in the low to mid 60s. Winds will still be breezy with sustained winds at 10-20 mph out of the northeast.

Our weather will be fairly quiet for the start of the work week. Skies will be partly cloudy tonight with lows in the mid 40s. We will see more sunshine on Monday with highs in the upper 60s.

Clouds return Tuesday ahead of our next system and will keep temperatures in the mid to upper 60s in the afternoon.

This quiet weather means pollen levels will remain high due to Juniper, Maple, and Birch trees.

Rain returns to the forecast on Wednesday as we track a front moving in from the west. Some showers are possible Wednesday ahead of the front with afternoon temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s.

Thursday appears to be the best chance for showers and some storms later in the day as the front crosses the area. The chance for showers and storms will linger into Friday morning before a brief break in the unsettled pattern.
