JOHNSTON, S.C. — A suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a Sumter man in Edgefield County has been arrested in Maryland.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division said it arrested 37-year-old Quenell Marquis Anderson on March 20 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Anderson was charged in the March 2 death of 35-year-old Ricky Martin Jr. of Sumter. According to warrants provided by SLED, Anderson shot Martin multiple times on May Street in the town of Johnston, South Carolina.

SLED said the Maryland State Police and Prince George's County Police Department assisted in the arrest. Anderson was booked into the Edgefield County Detention Center and is now housed at the Newberry County Detention Center.

SLED agents also arrested 37-year-old Roscoe Pough Jr. on a charge of accessory after the fact of murder on March 4 in connection with Martin's death. A warrant states that videos, interviews and a canvass of the area determined that Pough assisted Anderson by driving him away from the scene after the murder. He's being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center.

The 11th Circuit Solicitor's Office will prosecute the case.
