COLUMBIA, S.C. — Despite a chilly start, Easter Sunday is looking beautiful across the Midlands today. High pressure remains in control of our weather and sits just to our south. This will shift light winds out of the west and will also allow our temperatures to climb even warmer than they were yesterday.

By lunchtime expect temperatures in the mid 60s with afternoon highs topping off in the lower 70s. Skies will remain sunny all day long.

Our weather will remain quiet with the area of high pressure in control for the first half of the work week. Every day temperatures will get a touch higher through Wednesday.

Monday morning will start off clear with lows in the upper 40s and afternoon highs in the upper 70s. Tuesday will be fairly similar with highs in the low 80s under mostly sunny skies.

Pollen levels will remain high today and into the work week with little chances for rain and high pressure overhead.

By Wednesday we will begin to watch as a system approaches from the west. As a result, cloud coverage will increase Wednesday into Thursday and temperatures will surge into the mid 80s in the afternoon and near 60 in the morning.

There is a chance for some scattered showers and storms Thursday ahead of the system. The cold front is forecast to move through the Midlands on Friday and bring another chance of unsettled weather.

Behind the front, more seasonable temperatures are expected for next weekend with highs back in the mid to upper 70s.
